ENERGY STAR says to consider replacing an air conditioner or heat pump once it’s more than 10 years old. Sort by permit date, pull everything older than that, and mail those homeowners before a breakdown sends them to someone else.

Offer tune-ups and maintenance plans to homes that already have your equipment. Many parts warranties last 10 years, so systems from a decade ago are coming off coverage now.

Buyers want to know how many systems you’ve installed and where. Permits pulled under your license are public records they can check.
